Statement 7. Body, object, space. Absurd Existential isolation, combined with a romantic longing, leads to a fetishisation of objects and surfaces, where minimal forms reveal a sensual and tactile materiality.
8. The fetishisation here is the repetition of a frozen moment. A hotel room, flag, newspapers on the rear of a wardrobe, waiting, the gap between two pillows, a box, or the image of an icon. Intimate. Contained. Reflection. Deviation.
5. Communication. The repetition of stripes and hoops. Lines with gaps between them. The gap is powerful, a tension between the possible and the impossible. Potential for communication. Side by side, but never truly connecting. |
